How the Rules of Dating Have Changed

The rules of dating have changed drastically for American singles in this modern age of Internet dating services and fast-paced living. The rules of dating for both men and women have become a lot more complicated than they were a generation or so ago.
I am happy with these changes because I think that the old social norms are flawed. The traditional approach where women waited to be pursued and never made the first move should be left behind in the past.

These old norms are really unfair to men who would rather take a more passive role and to women who had more dominant personalities. In the past the rules were clear and understood by everyone, but everything is now different. The passing of time made have things much more complicated than they have ever been. Fortunately, people can turn to dating services that can help them understand the present rules of dating.

Everything is quite simple if you go to a speed dating event. All you have to do is talk for a few minutes to a variety of potential matches. Perhaps you will be able to find people who have tastes that are similar to yours. From there the rules of dating will sort themselves out. However, nobody is sure if the social norms will stabilize and make the rules of dating easier to decode. Nevertheless, knowledge about the proper thing to do on a date is a matter of great importance for both men and women.

In this day and age, many advice columnists and writers make their whole career off of people's dating anxiety. Every one of each of them has a different approach when it comes to rules of dating. I think that there is no satisfactory guide to dating etiquette because we are in such an informal culture. The key to being in a date is to always act comfortable and at ease. If you are at ease, then your manner can put other people at ease. Your date can still be a success, even if you do not have a perfect grasp of the rules of dating.

For Men From a Woman - Here's Some Advice on Relationships - Do You Know How to Keep a Woman Happy?

It might surprise you but it takes very little to make a woman happy. Oh yeah, some women may be "high maintenance" but even they respond to the little things you do that make them feel special. And, if you follow the advice below you will not only make your woman happy but you will "keep" her happy!

Have you ever wondered why you sometimes see the ugliest guy with the most gorgeous, sexy woman? You might think he's got money. Right? Well you would more than likely be wrong. Women love a man who exudes confidence. That is why to keep a woman happy you must learn to show confidence. It is one of the greatest turn-ons for us women. When you show confidence it implies a sense of power. You don't have to actually have the power because the confidence just physiologically says to us woman that "this man is sure of himself, I feel safe and important with him."

A confident attitude is more attractive to a woman than good looks.

Now once you show you are a confident man you need to do the little things that make a woman happy. Pick her up from work, make her dinner once in a while, give her a spa treatment at home! Give her those favorite chocolates she loves so much. You don't have to spend a lot of money just show her that you notice what she likes and give it to her. Men think they have to wait for an occasion and give their woman a big gift...but it's the little things that make a woman love her man.

Now here is a bit of advice that will make your woman totally in love with you and stay that way. Show how much you appreciate her. Show her how much you value her as your love. This ties into the next piece of advice on relationships: appreciate her. You shouldn't take her for granted. Let her know that you value her.

O.K. guys...now this should be obvious but stop looking at other women when you are with the woman you are trying to make and keep happy! Women will always feel like the woman you are looking at has something that she doesn't. She'll compare herself and that will make her feel very unhappy. You know full well that woman want monogamy, they want a lifetime partner with someone they can trust and raise their children with. We're all just made that way - so get used to it. If you have to look at other women just do it when the one you want is not around.

Here's another thing that will make your woman happy. Make her laugh. Women always put a "sense of humor" at the top of their list when describing the man of their dreams. So if you really want to keep your woman happy you better keep her laughing.

Try to take an interest in something that your woman loves. Maybe it wouldn't be your first pick of things to do or be interested in but just showing your woman that you are interested shows that you care about her. The fact that you are willing to do this for her will make her love you so much more.

And men, remember always keep trying to take care of your appearance. Just like you don't like a sloppy woman and want someone who takes pride in herself - your woman wants the same from you. When you take care of your appearance it's just another way to show you how much your care about her. Shave, if she likes you like that. Keep yourself clean. Be on top of the latest fashions. Believe me if you don't take care of your appearance she will eventually lose interest in you and start looking elsewhere.

Make your woman feel secure in the knowledge that you want to be a part of her life and that includes her family and friends. You must be a part of her larger circle. Be friendly to her girlfriends and her parents. Women feel secure within their own social network - they validate that she has made the right choice in being with you. If you win them over your woman will be totally yours.

It is just nature that a woman is more sensitive. Don't make fun of her feelings. You should know this by now!

Don't let things get routine. Think up new things to try. Don't let your relationship fall into a rut. It is so easy to fall into a rut once you have become comfortable with each other. But this is the kiss of death. You have to work at a relationship for it be exciting for you and her. Now you are probably saying these things are just common sense. But it is so easy to get lazy and forget them. You must pay attention. A beautiful relationship is hard to find and even harder to keep. But if you have found the woman that you want to be with then working at keeping her will become second nature if you just make sure to practice these simple tips.

Speed Dating Vs Matchmaking

There has been a lot of discussion over which is better: speed dating or matchmaking? Sure, both can lead to lasting romantic relationship, but there are positives and negatives to both. Speed dating is obviously not as safe and controllable as matchmaking. Yet matchmaking isn't spontaneous and sporadic. We'll take a few moments to compare and contrast the two in order to give you a basic premise on each so you can make the best decision for yourself.

As stated before, speed dating is spontaneous so can be off the cuff and adventurous. For those who aren't "OCD" with planning and organization this would best suit their fancy. Speed dating is also very appealing to the social butterfly because it transpires in a group of people actively interacting in a friendly environment. It's a light and fun atmosphere, conducive for sparking conversations and keeping things moving.

Some of the downsides to speed dating is it doesn't warrant for deeper, longer lasting relationships. Things tend to stay shallow and empty of intimacy. There's also drinking involved. This can lead to unwise decisions that you may regret after the social gathering has ended. In speed dating it's very common for people to still put up a façade. You don't really know if the person you're talking to is being honest and genuine. There's not enough time to get a good impression of the person. Another aspect of speed dating is the ability for someone else to take away your person of interest because of the amount of competition. Most people will simply be interested in the best looking guy, which is very shallow. Lastly, it isn't structured very well, which leaves a lot of room for the unseen. Most things in life operate the best in some sort of boundaries and this leaves too many aspects open-ended.

Matchmaking on the other hand is much more safe is structured very well. With matchmaking there is a preliminary screening process to ensure a highly level of safety. Personalities are screened which will help determine compatibility with a person you may be interested in. Also when a couple is matched it's not just based on one opinion, but a mutual agreement of two people's preferences. One great benefit of matchmaking is the constant ability for people to search for you. This creates greater opportunities for you otherwise impossible.

The "human factor" has to be taken into consideration. With matchmaking, you are able to get a much better "vibe" on someone else. You're able to use your human intuition to see if there is any potential. Matchmaking also gives you the ability to use your dates feedback for future success in finding that someone. This approach also focuses on long term relationships instead of casual dating. You will be given the opportunity to search for someone you could see yourself with for long time. Anyone who's paid a matchmakers fee is serious and isn't interested in shallow, flybys. Lastly, matchmaker enables the individual to talk to a lot more people. It would take a long time to meet 100 other single people you might be interested in. With matchmaker you will be able to talk to that same amount in a week!

There are benefit and sacrifice in each approach to dating. Take time to evaluate your heart and see which fits you the best. If you're someone who's simply casually dating then speed dating might be your best choice but if you're looking for a serious, long term relationship, you will be more satisfied with matchmaking. Either way, you will live and learn till you find the approach that works best for you.

Top Seven Dating Etiquettes For Women

You've had sleepless nights. Your secret crush finally asked you for a date. You are so ready to go - though it will still happen two days from now. You have already prepared for your look - from your hairstyle down to your shoes. Your 'script' for a conversation is also ready should your date run out of words to say or stories to tell. But, you have forgotten one thing: there are etiquettes that you should know to avoid ruining the first-ever or most-awaited date of yours. Check this list for your guidance.

1. Be a good listener.

Because your date is the one who invited you, he is supposed to introduce himself to you. He is the one to share things about him. Be a good listener then. Be attentive to what he says. Be polite. Do not cut him from his talk. If you wish to speak, let him finish first. In this way, you will know more about him. Isn't dating supposed to be discovering the man in front of you?

2. Be respectful of his opinion.

Do not be rude. Do not be opinionated. Respect his opinions. Do not try to argue just to make your point clear to him. Remember, this should be an enjoyable night.

3. Be appreciative.

He prepared this date for you, right after settling from your seat, say 'thank you' for his invitation. This will break all the tensions he has while waiting for you. Yes, men do feel the tension during dates.

4. Be punctual.

Yes, it is a tradition that men should come earlier than women in the restaurant where they will be dating. But please, do not make it too long or else, he will lose the excitement he felt earlier. Of, if he will fetch you in your home, make sure that you are ready to go when he comes.

5. Be polite

Learn to appreciate and be contented with what he has in store for your dinner date. For an instance, if you do not like the food, do not make him feel that you do by ordering your own food. Just try to eat what is in the table. Moreover, make use of good languages - do not attempt to utter even a single bad word.

6. Dress properly.

Do not go overdress; in fact, it may help if you will ask your date if he will require a formal or informal wear. This way, you will not feel uncomfortable if you will see dress in formal and you, in casual clothes.

7. Let him pay for the bills.

Do not try show off. Do not tell him that you will share with him whatever costs have been incurred because of the date. It will make him feel embarrassed.

Follow these rules of the thumb and surely, you will hear him say before he bids you good bye: "Can I ask you again for a date?" You deserve it because you have been so good for a date.

Dating Services Myths

With so many people seeking love, dating services are rapidly gaining popularity. More and more successful, ambitious, glamorous and highly eligible men and women are turning to the web to find romance and compatibility - and with such a wide range of excellent services out there, it is not surprising. Despite the increase in popularity with services such as these, many singles are still afraid to take that step and join a dating website. A large part of this is because of the myths that still linger around dating online.

While we all like to consider ourselves progressive thinking and sussed, there can still be doubts lurking about searching online to find a partner. Perhaps you have had a bad experience in the past, or maybe your friends have made you feel shy or embarrassed about your profile. Whatever the reason, it is time to bust the common online dating myths for once and for all, so that you can find the love and happiness that you deserve.
The most common myths include the following:

1. The Bigger the Better

Many people think that a large dating website with millions of hits will ensure a better result, with more people viewing their profile. While this may be true in terms of sheer volume, it may not give the best results. Larger sites are often less targeted, and may not have the personalised attention and careful screening process that a smaller, more discreet service may provide. What matters most is the quality of the potential matches you are introduced - this counts far more than sheer volume, and ensures more chance of a fun date and a successful match.

2. Online Dating is Pricey

Some sites may charge a fortune for their members, but many other sites offer affordable and high quality services that don't require you to break the bank. Dating is an investment, but that doesn't mean that you have to pay huge sums to find that special person. The best dating services don't compromise on quality or value. On your actual dates, you needn't spend too much either - simple yet thoughtful dates can have just as much of an effect.

3. You Can't Find Love Online

Hundreds of thousands of happy couples can attest to the fact that you can indeed find love online. Instead of random encounters at a packed function or bar, both parties have invested time and effort to meet people to form meaningful relationships. As services such as Match VIP carefully screen and match prospective partners according to mutual beliefs, values, goals, ambition and interests, you have a much higher chance of meeting a like-minded partner - thereby increasing your chance at lasting happiness and love.

4. Long Distance Romance Doesn't Work

It may not work for every single couple, but if both parties are committed to the relationship, and truly want to be together, then long distance romance can work. The main priority is to be sensible and safe, and make sure that you know your internet dating partner - chat via Skype, send photographs, talk on the phone and connect on Facebook; whatever it takes to get to know your partner before that all-important face to face meeting.

5. You Can't Trust People on Online Dating Websites

Just like you can't always trust people you meet in real life, you get honest and good people, and not-so-good people. If you follow a few basic safety tips and find dating services that are reliable and secure, then you will not have many problems finding love online.

The Best Christian Dating Can Be Done Right

Do you trust in God that He will give you only the best for your love life? If you do, then that is the first step to haveing the best Christian dating experience. Trust in God is the key to successfully meeting your mate, the person who will make you complete. Of course, trusting in Him doesn't mean you have to sit on the couch and wait for the perfect Christian man or woman for you to drop down from heaven. God doesn't work that way.

Trusting in Him also means you have to search for the right person and what better way to meet a Christian partner than by getting the best dating service designed for Christians? Now, putting yourself out there does not mean that you have to blindly search at every on line dating site available. Online dating should be approached prayerfully with the right attitude. In this way, you'll not be tempted to stray from God's chosen road for you while dating.

Create an Online Profile that Professes Your Faith

Jesus Himself warned against being ashamed of Him and your faith, so approach your online dating as a way to witness to other people. If you announce to the world that you are a devout Christian, you'll be more attractive to the right person. Remember that nothing is more appealing to a good Christian man than a woman who is in love with Jesus Christ. So take the time to create a profile that not only reveals your interests, but also how much you love God.
Protect Yourself

Online Christian dating is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you have the benefit of meeting far more Christian singles than you would in a singles group at your local church. On the other hand, since you remain anonymous for the most part, it can also have people who have different intentions than you would. Just as Jesus Christ asks us to be vigilant of the works of the Devil, then you should also keep yourself safe while online dating. First you should not give out any personal information without being sure that you can trust the person. Create a temporary email to use and don't give out your personal one until you have established your potential date's character.

Be Friendly

When someone expresses an interest to you and emails you, give them a courteous response. Remember that it takes a lot of courage to make the first move and even if you're not interested, you should let them down easily. Write a quick message that says, "Thanks for your interest, but I think that we're not going to be a good match. Good luck with finding the right person and God bless you." This is a compassionate response to people who, just like you, are trusting in God to find the right person.

Pray

The God of the universe might be very busy but He's not too busy to hear your prayers. He understands your longing to have that special someone and He's willing to give the perfect person for you. That's why the best Christian dating is the one where God is in the center. Don't forget to pray to God about your concerns about Christian dating and never forget to read the Scriptures. You'll see that in these pages lie His answers to your questions. Pray for the best Christian dating experience and He'll certainly give it to you. You're His favorite child, after all and He wants you to find your mate according to His terms.

How to Impress Your Date When She Doesn't Want to Be Impressed

No matter what guys think, women are not easily impressed, no matter how hard you try to impress them. They already know when you're trying to pull a fast one on them. They see your body language, and realize right away what you're trying to do. This is why it is important before meeting HER to know what are the best ways to impress your date. Else failure is imminent and usually you don't get a second chance.

To impress a girl you must show her that you don't really want her, you are not needy of her. Else she will reject you straight away. She will find it easy, not worth fighting for, not challenging enough. All women want is something unique. They are going to rate you based on your behavior with them. So instead of showing her too much attention, showing that you're not that interested in her, she will come running after you.

During the date act disinterested in her. Change your act, first show total interest and listen carefully to what she says, and then look around, look at your watch, act almost slightly bored. This is when her instinct will kick in and she will want desperately your attention. She will believe that you are really not so interested in her, not so impressed with her, which means that she will push herself even more to get your attention.
Also make her believe that you have something important to tell her, but never really tell her what it is. Start telling her and then say 'it's ok, you wouldn't understand anyway', making her feel that she's almost not worthy and she has to struggle to impress you. So in the end, instead of you trying to impress her, you will just have to sit back and watch as she will try to impress you instead! How's that for a great way to impress your date?

Dating Tip For Men - If She Thinks You're Cheap, Dump Her When you had it like that, it was all good for you and your lady friend. That doesn't mean

When you had it like that, it was all good for you and your lady friend. That doesn't mean you ran out and bought her a gold necklace on a regular basis or that you deliberately found the most expensive restaurant you could to the point the waiters knew you by your first name. But you did alright for yourself and by your date.
That was then, this is now. You have thankfully been able to hold on to your job while watching your coworkers get laid off and your benefits package get cut in half. Have you thought about trying to find a job somewhere else? On more than a few occasions but after doing some research you came to the unhappy conclusion that if you quit this one than you would have to take another one at far less pay. You have been cutting back enough in your personal life without having to entertain the prospect of taking home less money every couple of weeks.
So you grin and bear it. Things will pick up soon (we hope) but in the meantime you are going to have to make a number of sacrifices. And one of them is the area of personal finances.

Never been much of coupon user? That's about to change dramatically. What about bargains? We all like them but it is not like you really ever went out of your way to find them. Not anymore.

Unfortunately this cost cutting does not stop there. It extends directly into your dating relationship. The days of going out and painting the town are still going to happen. However as you have calculated, they will not only be few and far between but more budget conscious. No you are not happy with it but economic reality is dictating the terms.

And the question in all this is how your lady friend will take it. A great many women are very prudent when it comes to economic matters. If you have a coupon for that eatery or can catch the early bird special, she has no problem with that; in fact she maybe the one suggesting you do so.

It's hard to escape what is happening at this moment so going easy on your finances maybe her idea. She also may offer to foot the bill from time to time or at least pay half. Then there are the creative but inexpensive date ideas. Yes they are cheap but if done right they can add a lot of fun to your dating relationship.

But if she has grown accustomed to the life you have provided for her before this economic downturn and refuses to make any compromises or changes then you may have to sit down and take a long hard look at the relationship. She may decide to beat you to the punch and look for greener pastures elsewhere. If that happens so be it. In these tough times you need a partner not a burden. Tough times are the best times to test the mettle of a relationship. If nothing else she did you a favor by freeing you up to find greener pastures.
